AUCTION : 1013

Lot#: 971

DESCRIPTION: Unknown, 8 day weight patent or banjo timepiece, restored to appear 30 years older, c1860
CONDITION: Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an old finish on the case with the throat and bottom doors refinished. Painted zinc dial looks to be original with loss at the mounting screws, along the edge and small losses scattered around. Earlier style replacement tablets were installed in 20th century to make this clock look like a Willard.. At the latch and hinge side of the head there are repairs with homemade latch to secure the bezel. Hands are period and most likely original. There is a hole in the head for a finial that is missing. Note also that earlier banjo movements had a steel crutch, not brass as this one. Ht 29"
